CLASSICAL ART: GREECE and ROME

It has been said that nothing moves in the world that is not of Greek origin. Greek influences can be felt in almost every aspect of our life. It has influenced science, mathematics, law, politics, and art. Greece not only made an imprint on the history books but also asserted itself time. We still use Greek principles as basis for most of things. We look upon the Greek scholars. Greece was conquered by Rome one of the greatest empires in history. Important to the Greece is the humanity, reason and nature. Roman art includes architecture, painting, sculpture and mosaic work.
The artworks of Greeks are more on idealism and detailed. The medium they used is bronze or terracotta to make. Perfection for the Greeks was a balance among three elements: body, emotion, and intellect. Their love for reason and intellect led to rationalism, a philosophy that states knowledge comes from reason alone. In Greece the geometric scheme with linear patterns replaced the curvilinear designs and naturalistic. Sculpture was perhaps considered as the highest form of art by Romans, but figure painting was also very highly regarded. Although much Roman art is derived in style from that of Greece, its portrait sculpture originated in a tradition that was wholly Italian. Also in Rome their medium are bronze, stone, concrete, and terracotta. The artwork in Rome is also idealism and realism.
There was an emphasis on human figure which replaced the geometric motifs. When human and animal life was again represented, the forms assumed were schematized and formal Human figure became a preferred subject rather than decorative patterns. Rome’s has a unique contribution to the arts that of realism. In every artwork in Greek and Rome is detailed. Rome greatest contribution lay in architecture, although the most significant buildings, monuments, and civic structures.  In classical art I like the most is the Greek Art because the artworks is very detailed and the unique of their works not like the Roman Art their initiate some of the work of Greek.
